Abstract
Transition rates and collision strengths between the fine-structure le vels of Fe XV have been calculated using the configurations 3s(2), 3s3 p, 3p(2), 3s3d, 3p3d, and 3d(2) and are compared here with other calcu lations. The present calculations were carried out using the Superstru cture and distorted-wave programs developed at University College, Lon don. Level populations and line intensity ratios are calculated for th ree temperatures with log T-e(K) = 6.2, 6.4, and 6.4 and for electron densities N-e = 10(18)-10(12) cm(-3). Calculated intensity ratios of t he emission lines are compared with those observed by the Solar EUV Ro cket Telescope and Spectrograph (SERTS) in an active region of sun. Th e present results should also be useful in analyzing observations from the Solar Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). (C) 1997 Academic Press.
