The beta decay of Ga-61 to its mirror nucleus Zn-61 has been measured for t
he first time by using online mass separation and beta-delayed gamma-ray sp
ectroscopy. The observed decay strength to the ground state implies superal
lowed character in accordance with the systematics of the mirror decays in
the sd and fp shell. The beta feedings observed to four excited states in Z
n-61 are consistent with earlier spin-parity assignments based on in-beam e
xperiments. The ground-state spin and parity for Ga-61 were determined to b
e 3/2(-).
