Abstract
Lignans are natural bis-phenylpropanoids having biological activities. Full y synthetic analogues carrying heteroatoms instead of C atoms on the basic skeleton have been grouped under the name heterolignans. In this review a c lassification and their structures, biological activities and synthesis are presented.
