Abstract
The reaction of methyl-4,6-dimethoxy-alpha-D-mannopyranoside (H(2)man) with [(VO)-O-IV(L)(H2O)] (L2-, deprotonated salicylaldimine of glycine) in air has afforded [(VO)-O-V(Hman)(L)] in which the sugar ligand is chelated to t he metal via alkoxidic and alcoholic oxygen atoms, the V-O lengths being 1. 799(7) Angstrom and 2.366(8) Angstrom respectively.
