Abstract
Divalproex is now commonly used to treat bipolar disorder in older patients . However, it has yet to be systematically studied in this population; This report describes six older bipolar patients treated with divalproex. Of th e six, five showed some improvement with divalproex alone or in combination with other agents. Clearly, a double-blind, placebo-controlled study is an important next step to assess this promising medication. Copyright (C) 199 9 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
