We describe the preparation method of a new ferrofluid in which the stabili
zing agent (the oleic acid) is partially replaced with silicon oil PDMS or
PMFS. For the obtained probes we study: the density, magnetic susceptibilit
y and viscosity. The studies show that the magnetic susceptibility is a mon
otonically decreasing function of silicon oil concentration. The density in
creases slowly as well as the viscosity as a function of silicon oil concen
tration. The distinction with respect to the ferrofluid based on oleic acid
stabilization consists in the behavior of the viscosity in a magnetic fiel
