Temperature dependences of the local structures of chloranilate complexes o
f Pr(III), Nd(III), Tb(III), and Er(III) were studied by EXAFS (extended X-
ray absorption fine structure) in order to reveal the process of the dehydr
ation for the coordinated water molecules. The coordination number around c
entral lanthanoid(III) ion was reduced stepwise as temperature increases, w
hich behaviour depends on the kind of central lanthanoid(III) ion. Accompan
