In the case presented we report a 75-year-old patient who complained about
dysphagia and was send to our unit for surgery of esophageal carcinoma. The
diagnosis esophageal carcinoma was already confirmed by barium swallow and
CT scan. During endoscopy the occluding process was proofed to be a sausag
e bole and could be removed easely. In spite of an increasing number of exp
ensive radiological diagnostics the method of first choice to examine dysph
agia should be endoscopy.
