Nanocrystalline 2H-MoSe2 was prepared from MoO3, N2H4. H2O, and Se in pyrid
ine at 300 degrees C for 12 h by a solvothermal method. A gray-black produc
t was collected and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmissi
on electron microscopy (TEM) analysis. The XRD pattern showed that a phase-
pure product was prepared. TEM analysis showed that the product was polycry
stalline and had plate-shaped particles with a diameter of about 40 nm. The
conversion process from MoO3 to MoSe2 is discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Scie
