Abstract
We propose a new class of Y-junctions based on wavefront processing to faci litate phase matching during branching. This is achieved by grading the lat eral index profile of the waveguides. Simulations show that, at 85% power t ransmission, when compared to an all step-profile truncated-structural Y-br anch (TSYB) that we proposed earlier, it widens the full branching angle by 1.5 degrees.
