Abstract
The current state of chemotherapeutic treatment of AIDS in terms of the mol ecular mechanisms of the drug action is analyzed and its prospects are disc ussed. A concise overview of the data of the author's laboratory is given. Intracellular phosphorylation-independent nucleotide inhibitors of reverse transcription and replication of proviral HIV RNA in cell-free systems and cell cultures are described.
