Two remarks on photonic crystals

Photonic crystals represent a subset of a broader set of materials with a s pecific dependence of the (complex) refractive index on the coordinate and frequency. The latter include, for instance, photorefractive materials, sub stances allowing spectral hole burning with a high spectral: resolution, et c. Photonic crystals show a promise in specific applications in science and technology.
