Abstract
A new type of Al2O3 sol-gel derived glucose biosensor is developed. The enz yme electrode comprises glucose oxidase immobilized in the Al2O3 sol-gel ma trix on a platinized glassy carbon electrode. Platinum black not only provi des a big specific surface area but also enhances the adhesion of the sol-g el film. The operational parameters such as the preparation conditions of A l2O3 sol-gel, the operating potential of the working electrode, and pH effe ct of response are tested for optimum analytical performance by using an am permetric method. Linear calibration for glucose is obtained in the range 4 .00 x 10(-5)-2.19 x 10(-2) mM under the optimized conditions. The biosensor was stable for at least two weeks. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
