The container loading problem has important industrial and commercial appli
cation. Only a few approaches, however, have been developed to deal with th
is problem. This paper aims to integrate some of the developments in contai
ner loading methods and organize them into a systematic procedure. In parti
cular, this procedure can generate various heuristics that consist of sever
al different modules to determine the container loading patterns. We conclu
