A nodal static voltage stability evaluation analytical tool for electric po
wer systems is presented. The method is based on a straightforward physical
characterization of the voltage stability phenomena. Emphasis is given to
numerical calculation aspects leading to computational efficiency, necessar
y when leading with real life networks and contingency analysis. The method
was able to detect real voltage stability problems in the Brazilian system
