Ii. Sudnitsyn et al., The effect of microbiological processes on redox potential dynamics in aggregates of loamy soils of different genesis, EURAS SOIL, 32(7), 1999, pp. 781-784
Incubation for 30 to 150 min resulted in a permanent decrease of redox pote
ntial in loamy soil aggregates owing to the activity of microorganisms and
penetration of oxygen from the air into the aggregates. It was found that (
1) the initial value of redox potential depended on the soil type, (2) soil
moisture and organic substrate determined the rate of decrease of redox po
tential, and (3) the changes in redox potential were dependent on its initi
al value.
