Abstract
Spectral methods are very efficient and powerful for solving periodic probl ems. A new spectral method is developed for problems with no spatial period icity, and demonstrated for water Naves. The method splits the potential in to the sum of a prescribed non-periodic component and an unknown periodic c omponent. Computed results are compared with experiments by Shemer et al (1 998).
