The effects of composition, temperature (T) and O-2 partial pressure (
p[O-2]) on solid-liquid equilibria were determined experimentally for
most of the phase fields in the BaO-Cu-CuO system. These relationships
are illustrated in both a p[O-2]-10(4)/T diagram and in ternary phase
diagrams. Thermodynamic values reported for BaCuO2 and BaCu2O2 by Vor
onin and Degterov [1-3] were verified via equilibria involving oxides,
BaCO3, O-2, and CO2. The T-p[O-2]-y interdependence was determined fo
r Ba2CuO3+y.
