In this comprehensive review, Eng M. Tan discusses the importance of lookin g at autoantibodies as reporters from the immune system that can shed light on the nature of autoantigens, and their implications for the pathogenesis of diseases, A detailed description of autoantibodies in rheumatological d isease is given, and in addition other conditions such as cancer are also d iscussed.
