Abstract
Piracetam reacts easily with aldehydes and benzotriazole or 1,2,4-triazole
in the presence of strong acid to form new N-substituted piracetam with a 3
7-70% yield. N-Substituted piracetam reacts readily with a variety of alcoh
ols and thiols under mild conditions to give amidoalkylation products in ve
ry good yield (79-95%).
