Herrnstein and Murray assume that test score gaps between blacks and whites
attending the same schools or in the same jobs must result from the applic
ation of different selection criteria to blacks and whites. To the contrary
, we show that race-blind screening processes normally will produce large g
aps between the test scores of blacks and whites.
