Abstract
The gas-discharge chamber designed differs from other chambers by its disch arge-initiating device, which is a plasma emitter based on a ferroelectric ceramic. An extended plasma channel with a length of 3 m and an electron co ncentration higher than 10(12) cm(-3) can be generated in the chamber at a working gas lair) pressure of similar to 10(-2) Torr. The plasma channel ex ists for several tens of microseconds. A periodically pulsed operation mode with a 50-Hz pulse repetition rate is implemented.
