Abstract
A sensitive technique for measuring changes in the refractive index or phas e shifts with the use of polarization modulation in a homodyne interferomet er is described. A quasi-stationary Interference pattern is preserved even at large depths of modulation, making it possible to analyze the spatial fi eld structure.
