Abstract
The new metabolite agaridiol (1) was isolated from cultures of Agaricus sp. , and its structure was elucidated by mass spectrometric and NMR spectrosco pic investigations. It shows moderate antimicrobial activity against Bacill us subtilis ATCC 6633. In the course of screening for new metabolites from Basidiomycetes we isola ted recently the new metabolite agaridiol (1) (Fig. 1). 1 is produced by Ag aricus sp., in surface culture on a synthetic medium.
