Abstract
The vapor-liquid equilibrium at 101.325 kPa has been measured for the terna ry system acetone + methanol + water in an equilibrium still with circulati on of phases. Satisfactory results were obtained for the prediction of acti vity coefficients and the equilibrium compositions with group contribution models (ASOG, UNIFAC, UNIFAC-Dortmund, and UNIFAC-Lyngby). Small standard d eviations of vapor molar fraction and temperature were calculated. Azeotrop ic behavior was observed only in the acetone + methanol mixture. The correl ation parameters for the Tamir-Wisniak and UNIQUAC equations were presented .
