Abstract
Bi-based superconducting whiskers were obtained by annealing a melt-quenche d glass plate in a stream of oxygen for a long time. The growth is isotropi c. A new growth model is proposed to explain how the whiskers grow. An inne r stress induced growth is the critical aspect of this model. (C) 1999 Else vier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
