Abstract
A convenient synthetic method is described for 3-substituted aromatic trifl uoromethyl ethers through an oxidative desulfurization-fluorination reactio n. Upon addition to liquid crystalline materials, these ethers lower birefr ingence (Delta n) of the host liquid crystals. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S. A. All rights reserved.
