Abstract
A bola-amphiphile surfactant, containing a carboxylic acid at one end of th e molecule and a thiol at the other, was bonded to nanoparticles of amorpho us iron.:The bonding of both functional groups was verified by FTIR and;XPS measurements. TPD measurements exhibited three temperatures at which molec ules are removed from-the surface of the iron nanoparticles. The highest te mperature, ca. 360 degrees C, is assigned as the temperature at which molec ules bonded simultaneously at both ends are desorbed from the surface.
