Abstract
This paper investigates the generation of harmonics in conventional radiofr equency (rf) heating systems. An extended circuit model encapsulating the h armonic characteristics of the system is derived using Foster's theorem. Th is model is analyzed using both an analytic and a circuit simulation approa ch. The effect of varying the tuning conditions of the system on the harmon ic power spectrum is investigated for a typical system. This has revealed s ome correlation between the resonant modes of the system and its harmonics which has been postulated in mathematical form as dimensionless factors.
