Abstract
We compared the iron status between children 11 to 33 months old with confi rmed blood lead levels of 20 to 44 mu g/dL and demographically similar chil dren with blood lead levels of <10 mu g/dL. There were no differences. Labo ratory investigation or empirical treatment for iron deficiency is not just ified on the basis of moderately elevated blood lead levels alone.
