Abstract
The anthracenedifuran precursor 7 was obtained in a short sequence fro m its lower homologue 1. On thermal treatment, 7 generates the highly Diels-Alder (DA)-active anthracenodifuran ''8''. Its bisdiene characte r is proved by trapping with diquinone 9, which gives the [9]cyclacene derivative 10 and oligomeric material.
