Many-body effects in photodetachment from negative ions are discussed in th
is article. A short survey of model and ab initio many-electron approaches
applied to the study of negative ions is presented. Manifestations of the d
ynamic many-electron effects such as the interference between different cha
nnels, the polarization interaction, core relaxation and screening of the i
nterelectron interaction in one-photon photodetachment processes are consid
ered. Attention is centred on the resonances in the single-electron photode
tachment cross section.
