Abstract
We have studied the classical hydrogen atom in two dimensions under an inte nse electric field with radial symmetry (1.5 degrees of freedom). We have o btained a classical ionization suppression at high angular momentum with th e radial model similar to the quantum estimation for the one-dimensional (1 D) hydrogen atom in a linearly polarized field and we compare these results with the smoothed 1D Coulomb potential model. We have obtained two general ized Kepler maps for several values of the eccentricity (e) of the trajecto ries.
