Prognosis calculations and measurements of contamination: steps in the assessment of radiation exposure via the ingestion pathway in the case of an accident
A. Bayer et al., Prognosis calculations and measurements of contamination: steps in the assessment of radiation exposure via the ingestion pathway in the case of an accident, KERNTECHNIK, 63(5-6), 1998, pp. 286-293
The possibilities for the making of prognoses and the carrying out of measu
rements for the assessment of radiation exposure via the ingestion pathway
are presented together with decision-making possibilities for the implement
ation of measures in the areas of agriculture, and the production and distr
ibution of food-stuffs Further to this the modelling of radionuclide transf
er for relevant processes within the ingestion pathway, and their influence
on the uncertainty values for the model calculations are discussed. The de
gree of conclusiveness of the data in terms of their variability and repres
entativeness is discussed, along with the degree to which they can be used
in the adaption of the prognosis calculations. The implications of interreg
ional and cross-border goods traffic are defined. The possibilities for a m
utually agreed upon procedure for the optimized implementation of the diffe
rent programmes in respect of the evaluation of a radiological situation un
der circumstances in which only limited resources are available is presente
d.
