Arthrobotrys hertziana sp nov from the Canary Islands

A new nematophagous hyphomycete is described from the Canary Islands as Art hrobotrys hertziana. It has branched conidophores with slightly swollen tip s, mostly three-sept-ate conidia, and sticky knobs as trapping devices. A k ey to Arthrobotrys species forming sticky knobs is presented. Among six nem atode and two springtail species tested as hosts only the nematode Panagrel lus redivivus was trapped. The results are discussed with reference to taxo nomical problems and the possibly limited host range.
