Abstract
Recent developments in the theory of ion-atom collisions are briefly review ed. We focus on methods, which in principle aim at a full solution of the t ime-dependent Schrodinger equation (TDSE) for the electronic motion in the fields of the classically moving nuclei. In particular, the basis generator method (BGM), a coupled-channel approach in terms of dynamically adapted b asis states, is presented in some detail. Selected results are discussed fo r antiprotons colliding with hydrogen atoms and helium ions. (C) 1999 Elsev ier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
