Abstract
The distortion effects of the post-collision interaction (PCI) in argon L2, 3M2,3M2,3 Auger electron spectra following the electron impact inner-shell ionization of argon are studied in a wide energy range. The accurate measur ements of these distortions are compared with theoretical calculations base d on the model of Sheinerman et al. (S.A. Sheinennan, W. Kuhn, W. Mehlhorn, J. Phys. B 27 (1994) 5681). An excellent agreement between theory and expe riment was found. Moreover, the existence of a not vanishing PCI shift in t he high-energy region is confirmed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
