Abstract
The kinetics of the reactions of adenosine with bromo- and chloromalon-alde hydes to give ethenoadenosine and ethenoformyladenosine has been studied un der various conditions. The rate of disappearance of adenosine and the prod uct distribution seen to be dependent on the halogen on the malonaldehyde. Different mechanistic alternatives are discussed, although definite conclus ions can not be drawn.
