In this study we present new results, obtained by the integrated applicatio
n of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (
PCS) on Poly(Ethylene Oxide) (PEO) aqueous solutions. A comparison between
the self-diffusion coefficient and the collective one, determined by the em
ploy of the two techniques suggests that water behaves as a good solvent fo
r PEO and that, at low concentration, the interaction among the hydrated po
lymeric unities has a repulsive character Furthermore, the translational dy
namics of these H-bonded systems is discussed within the framework of the c
urrent theories.
