The phases of detachment of bottom gravity current from slope and its conve
rtion into an intrusive current were obtained for the first time in numeric
al calculations. The pressure field obtained in the paper clarifies the str
ucture (physical entity) of the current in the surroundings of the point of
separation. The proposed example illustrates additional capabilities of th
e numeric model when analysing the behaviour of stratified currents in the
areas with complex bottom topography.
