Variational-iterative method for conductive-radiative transfer in an inhomogeneous plane-parallel medium

The coupled conductive-radiative transfer in a participating, inhomogeneous plane-parallel medium with anisotropic scattering and reflecting boundarie s is considered. The radiative transfer equation is solved in its integral form for linear anisotropic scattering using the variational method. The co upling of the radiative to the conductive transfer is solved using an itera tive method. The temperature and the conductive, radiative and total net fl uxes through the medium are calculated for homogeneous and inhomogeneous me dia and for isotropic and anisotropic scattering. The results for homogeneo us media are compared with the published calculations.
