Yg. Hong et Y. Pak, Identification of chiro-inositol-containing phospholipids and changes in their metabolism upon salt stress in soybean seedlings, PHYTOCHEM, 51(7), 1999, pp. 861-866
We report here the presence of chiro-inositol-containing phospholipids in a
ddition to the common myo-inositol-containing phospholipids in soybean seed
lings. Using sequential TLC and HPTLC, eleven inositol phospholipids were i
solated from soybean seedlings and analyzed after 6 N HCl hydrolysis for th
eir inositol and fatty acid compositions by anion exchange Dionex HPLC and
CC, respectively. Upon analysis, we have identified three species of chiro-
inositol-containing phospholipids and further observed that the chiro-inosi
tol-containing phospholipids and their fatty acid composition changed in re
sponse to 1 and 24 h 150 mM NaCl treatment compared to the control (no NaCl
treatment). In addition, we found the different tissue distribution and me
tabolic changes of the chiro-inositol-containing phospholipids in apical, e
longating and mature parts of hypocotyls and roots of soybean seedlings upo
n salt stress. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
