Abstract
An investigation of the extracts from Centranthus longiflorus subsp. longif lorus has led to the isolation of seven substances. A new iridolactone has been isolated from the aerial parts of this plant and was elucidated by ana lysis of the spectroscopic data and named longiflorone. The constitution of the previously described valtrate hydrine BS was elucidated via 2D NMR ana lysis for the first time. Additional compounds isolated were patrinoside, k anokoside A, oleanolic acid, silosterol and quercetin 3-O-rutinoside. (C) 1 999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
