Abstract
The radioresistance of bovine herpesvirus-l (BHV-1), commonly known as infe ctious bovine rhinotracheitis virus (IBRV), suspended ill free serum Glasgo w-MEM medium and frozen at -78 degrees C was studied. The number of survivi ng virus at a given dose of gamma-radiation was determined by a plaque assa y system. D-10 values were calculated before and after removal of cell debr is. The D-10 values obtained were 4.72 kGy and 7.31 kGy before and after re moval of cell debris, respectively. Our results indicate that the inactivat ed viral particles could be used for vaccine preparation ol diagnostic reag ents. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
