Myocardial infarction is an uncommon complication of electroconvulsive ther
apy. Because of this, in spite of the existence in psychiatric literature o
f some studies about this question, the knowledge in this regard by most ca
rdiologists is scarce. We present a patient with an acute myocardial infarc
tion after the application of a electroconvulsive therapy. In the end, we a
ccomplish review of the literature in relation to incidence, physiology, pr
evention and indication or not of fibrinolytic drugs in acute myocardial in
farction after electroconvulsive therapy.
