Mc. Durette-desset et C. Vaucher, Molostrongylus mbopi n. sp (Nematoda : Trichostrongylina, Molineoidea) parasite of three Molossops species (Chiroptera, Molossidae) from Paraguay, REV SUI ZOO, 106(2), 1999, pp. 407-418
A new species of the genus Molostrongylus parasite of Molossops planirostri
s, M. abrasus and M. temmincki, from Paraguay is described. It differs from
the sole species of the genus, Molostrongylus acanthocolpos (DURETTE-DESSE
T & VAUCHER 1996) by several characters: cephalic plates absent; deirids po
sterior to excretory pore level, the synlophe with only 2 alae and 2 ventra
l ridges in male, different pattern of the synlophe along the whole body in
female; caudal bursa with rays 9 arising from dorsal ray prior to or at sa
me level as division of the latter, rays 10 shorter than rays 9, a few, lar
ge spines present in ovejector region, tail about twice as long as wide at
its basis in female.
