Abstract
Reaction of 2,2'-bipyridyl with malachite in the presence of sodium perchlo rate yields a [Cu(Bipy)(3)](ClO4)(2) complex (I). The compound was characte rized by electronic and TR spectroscopy, and magnetochemical measurements a t room temperature. Crystal structure I was refined by X-ray diffraction an alysis. It was established that the axial Cu-N bond lengths in the [Cu(Bipy )(3)](2+) cation are different, in agreement with the literature data.
