Gv. Bida et Vg. Kuleev, Effect of elastic deformation on the magnetic properties of steels having different structures, RUSS J NOND, 34(11), 1998, pp. 783-794
We studied the effect of elastic deformations by tension and compression on
the coercive force, the relaxation magnetization, and the magnetic suscept
ibility of 30KhGSA and U8 steels subjected to quenching and tempering at di
fferent temperatures. The measurements were made on previously demagnetized
and subsequently stressed specimen. A physical interpretation is provided
for the obtained relations. The investigation also included the effect of t
he order in which the magnetic field and the load were applied and removed
on the nature of the residual magnetization's dependence on the tempering t
emperature. We established experimentally the tempering temperature depende
nce of the tension and compression stresses required for magnetization to r
each its relaxation value, when the specimens were stressed in magnetic fie
lds corresponding to the coercive force. It was shown that the stresses wer
e proportional to the difference between the coercive and the relaxation co
ercive forces.
