Abstract
A new melanized meristematic fungus, Trimmatostroma salinum, is described. All strains known to date originated from saltern water along the Adriatic coast. On the basis of morphology, the species is classified in the anamorp h genus Trimmatostroma. Its distinction from other meristematic fungi is di scussed.
