Pesticide residue measurements: activities and current research from the EC Standards, Measurements and Testing Programme (SMT)

The Standards, Measurements and Testing Programme (SMT) of the. European Co mmission is currently supporting a number of different types of collaborati ve projects: in the area of pesticide-residue measurements. This article,gi ves an account of these projects, dealing with the certification of organoc hlorine pesticides in various matrix reference materials (milk powder, pork fat, animal feed, fish oil) and polar pesticides in lyophilised water, the optimisation of methods for organophosphorus pesticides, the development o f an electrochemical sensor for pesticides in soil and water, the developme nt of methods for multi-residue pesticides in foodstuffs and water, and per formance evaluation of CEN multi-residue methods for foodstuffs analysis.
